ELO Experience at Hull New Theatre

I was recently asked if I could photograph tribute band the ELO Experience at Hull New Theatre by band member Pete Smith.

I’ve known Pete since his days in the Casablanca Boys, one of the best if not the best cover bands I’ve ever seen.

Sure can Pete, what do you want?

Well they wanted  me to photograph them from the sound check through to the end of the gig and I had access all areas (very Rock & Roll).

Back in my newspaper days at the Hull Daily Mail I covered quite a few gigs and concerts, Morrissey and the Beautiful South being particular highlights.

You only got the first three songs in the ‘pit’ at the front of the stage then you were politely (sometimes) moved out.

By the way, I remember my old film camera a Nikon FM2, broke down after one roll of film so that was that.

Digital photographers, you don’t know the pressure of those film days!

Anyway, I have to say what a brilliant performance the ELO Experience put on, sound, lights were all excellent.

Can’t believe how many songs ELO had and I would recommend them to anyone, great band.
